Hi, especially to Larry Slocum. I, too, was on Kwaj in '76 and '77, as a college dependent for Christmas and summer vacations. What a place! I left part of my heart there.

I worked part-time at the Ten-Ten Store. We (my parents and I) lived in Silver City. Dad worked on Meck.

Since you were a pilot there, Larry, did you ever give rides to people? My parents payed for someone to take Mom and then me up in a small plane so we could see the atoll from the air and take pictures. (We certainly couldn't see it when we flew in and out from Hawaii since that was on a C-141 with only one window!)

Lived on Kwaj (as a pilot) in 76 and 77. Remember it fondly. Nice simple lifestyle, great diving, movies (outdoor) and even university classes. Rode a bike everywhere or walked, frequent tennis and sailing/boating. All the best to everyone.

It has been fun reading this blog. I am entertaining the idea of working there. I have applied for a position, but waiting for more info. ie: like pay. I have been poking around the web reading all that I can find. It sounds like it would be great couple of years. Thanks for the stories and info.
Hi,
I'm Glen A Hatcher, and was a software specialist in charge of the launch area monitor, flight safety, missle guidance and process construction from 1969-1971. Colonel Malar was the big boss and I met 100's of people that became great friends. John Broadwater, Ed Wierzbicki, Kolodziej, Bill Talbert, and Dick Nuckey (God rest his soul, he died diving on a sunken ship) and many others who were my co-workers.

On a lighter note, my wife and I were on vacation in Las Vegas and ask this couple where are you from? they replied, "you wouldn't know, it's a small island in the South Pacific called Kwajalein". Needless to say it was a talkative afternoon. It was great to know that the research goes on.

If you read this a recongize any names please respond.

One mention I failed to make previously. We went to Kwaj in 1969, never before having left Minnesota. 6 months later, we get a letter from my husband's mom, that a boy that went to our church transferred to Kwaj with his wife --- we ran into them at the Yokwe one night soon after. Small World!
